Scoring
Decimal Points
Judges will have the entire tenths available to them for scoring (ie: they can give scores such as 5.7, but not 7.62). Judges will be given a handheld white board to write their scores. The scores must be legible.
Breaking Ties
This is for both forms and breaking.
Consider the following score sheet, where two competitors received the same total score.
| Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Total | Won | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| John | 6.5 | 7.0 | 7.5 | 21.0 | ? |
| James | 7.0 | 7.5 | 6.5 | 21.0 | ? |
As you can see, each judge gave a different score to each competitor. In this case, the tie can be broken easily and without requiring additional time. Judges 1 and 2 each gave a heigher score to James, while only Judge 3 gave John the higher score. James would then be the winner of the tie. This is visually represented in the table below.
| Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Total | Won | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| John | 6.5 | 7.0 | (x) 7.5 | 21.0 | No |
| James | (x) 7.0 | (x) 7.5 | 6.5 | 21.0 | Yes |
If one or more judge gave the competitors the same score, such as in the example below, then the tie would have to be broken by the competitors performing their routines again. If there are only two competitors, then judges will point to their competitor of choice to break the tie. If there are three or more competitors in the tie, then scores will be used.
| Judge 1 | Judge 2 | Judge 3 | Total | Won | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| John | 7.5 | 7.0 | 7.5 | 22.0 | ? |
| James | 7.0 | 7.5 | 7.5 | 22.0 | ? |
